Who is eligible to join History Queensland?
Our Constitution (2011) opens membership to:
Member Societies whose representatives must be nominated members of “duly constituted not-for-profit genealogical, family history or historical societies in the State of Queensland”.
Associate Members being special interest groups and/or persons who may or may not have a membership of an affiliated society. Such members have no voting rights.
Honorary Members and Life Members.

What activities has History Queensland undertaken in recent years?
Past activities include:
Held general meetings in Caloundra, Rockhampton, Caboolture, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Gayndah, Ipswich, Toowoomba, North Pine, Bundaberg, North Pine, Warwick, Fassifern and Blackbutt. These meetings included guest speakers and conducted tours, offering great opportunities to network with like-minded people.
Given evidence before the Federal Government’s inquiry into the treatment of Census Forms. History Queensland’s contribution has been included in a volume of published submissions.
Previously held six biennial Family and Local History Fairs at the Mt Gravatt Showgrounds, Brisbane, and more recently three State Conferences at various venues. The State Conferences included a family history fair.
Making submissions to State Cabinet relating to conservation of archived material and access to records.
Leading a campaign to Federal Government to keep national archives vital to Queensland in Queensland.
Making submissions to Federal Government to support continued funding for the National Library of Australia, specifically for the Trove newspaper project.
Making a submission to the Tune review of the National Archives of Australia.

Can individuals join History Queensland?

Incorporation is a voluntary choice of the group; it is neither compulsory nor obligatory, but does provide some advantages you may wish to consider.

Can ordinary members of an HQ member organisation attend the AGM and general meetings?
Not just the committee of these groups?
Yes, all members of any HQ member group are very welcome to attend. However, any voting is limited to one vote per member organisation.
